Master Class Session 4: Weekly Challenge

Storch-BadgeIf you are looking for the biweekly and monthly challenges, click here. Don’t forget that the monthly challenge is due by Friday. Voting on the best story will begin on Saturday and the winner will be announced on Monday.  A new monthly prompt will go live August 4.

So, last week, Kir offered the word “coppertone” to challenge you. I’m the only one who responded, continuing the western I started for Studio 30+. You can see how I used coppertone in “Judgment Coming.”

This week I am offering you the word

precondition(s/ed)

for the weekly word challenge.

Your piece should be 320 words or less and contain the word prompt within the body somewhere. The linkup will be live until Monday, July 28 6:00 pm EST.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

The link up is now live! Don’t forget to check out the biweekly and monthly prompts, too!

      • Thanks for adding me! I appreciate it. Honored to choose the next word as well. Let’s go with, tentative.

      • Actually, I think I jumped the gun. I wrote to the prompt “preconditioned” and want to link that. Does the linky for that go live Tuesday?

        • No. Preconditioned ended last Monday, LOL. I have a story I started and never had time to finish for that one too. You are fine. I like your word choice. 🙂

    • It’s very easy. Just write it and post it on your blog. Click on the link up at the bottom of my post, then copy the url from your address bar and insert your information there. I think the linkup shows up weird, so you should put your url in the first box, your name in the second, and your email in the third, then click enter. Voila! You’re in!

      Welcome to the class!

        • You are very welcome. I hope you’ll dip your pen into some of the other prompts, as well.

By the way, the 320 word count is to challenge. I don’t count them and I don’t mind if they are longer.

          • Okay, I think I can manage 320. I write 1,000 word short stories on my blog, so I’m always looking for practice in something shorter.

Are the other prompts on your blog, or the link in this post? When are the deadlines? I’d love to contribute, but I need to make sure they fit with my other writing deadlines.

          • Both. I linked to the biweekly and monthly prompts within this one and if you hit home and scroll down a little, you should see Session 3. Summer with 4 kids keeps me busy so I don’t manage to blog as I want to.

          • Also, there’s a great writing prompt of 100 word stories based on a single word at velvetverbosity.com if you are seeking more flash challenges.

          • Sure thing!! I actually have prompt sites listed on the left side of my blog. I try to participate in them as regularly as I can.
