TMT: Into the Groove

Last week, I shared the mixtape of wedding songs I used for my wedding. There were a whole lot more though, and since this week is blogger’s choice, I’m going to continue the wedding playlist.

After our slow first dance songs, we had to get the guests moving. I had no intentions of ever having another wedding, and I wanted to enjoy it. After all, who goes to a wedding expecting everything to be done in an hour? Apparently my guests did because they had eaten while we were doing pictures (and weren’t supposed to. All the diabetic friendly food I had prepared for myself was GONE. ) and wanted cake! I needed something good, something funky, something that would get them moving. P!nk delivered!

Making my connection as I enter the room
Everybody’s chilling as I set up the groove
Pumpin’ up the volume with this brand new beat
Everybody’s dancing and they’re dancing for me

Def Leppard kept them going!

You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
’cause I’m hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet

When it came time for the festivities to continue, my sense of humor required that the bouquet toss not be to any traditional song. No, for this, I needed Pat Benatar.

Put up your dukes,
Lets get down to it
Hit me with your best shot

The husband knew the perfect song to accompany the obligatory bridal garter removal. Yep, the boys had a blast.

Them panty hose ain’t gonna last too long
If the DJ puts Bon Jovi on

When it came time for us to leave, we marched to our own tune. We literally hit the road and headed for Atlantic City.

Hit the road Jack and don’t you come back no more

The evening closed out for our guests with me leaving My Wish for them.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

And for a bonus track, this song was on our CD favor. There’s quite a story behind it, not just because I love the sultry
whiskey voice of KT Tunstall, but because it fit. After our first official date, I never wanted to go out with him again. He’d spent the entire movie with his arm around my shoulders and the other planted firmly on my thigh. Personal space did not exist. I faked a headache at dinner, made him get his food in a box, and had him take me home…

And my heart hit a problem, in the early hours,
So I stopped it dead for a beat or two.

Isn’t he lucky I got over it?

And that, folks, is another Twisted Mixtape Tuesday, hosted by My Skewed View. Join in the fun and share your own mixtapes!

Thanks for stopping in!

    • me either. mixtape is awesome because it makes me look up the lyrics. I’ve been singing the song wrong ALL these years, LOL!

  1. The KT song is a favorite of mine too (and all the others!) because they get you moving, those kinds of songs exist in your hips, you can’t help but swing and twist them.

Plus a little P!nk never hurt anyone, she’s a favorite gal of mine for sure.

    Your wedding was FUN, you’re hubby…Lucky! 😉

  2. LOVE your choices. I have a personal story about me and Joe Nichols on my blog. If you are interested just search “radio days”. And KT Tunstall, is one of my fave female artists. I sing this and a couple of her other songs when I do Karaoke, tee hee 🙂 WTG!

  3. First – I wish I was at your wedding because it sounds like it was awesome! Especially since you guys were clearly the music directors!
Second – After the first time I met my husband I thought he was an arrogant ass.
We’ve been married 13 years, so I guess I worked it out 🙂

    • yeah we will celebrate 10 years of togetherness this summer so I can say the same.

My wedding was pretty awesome. I made all the mixtapes and gave them to my brother with a schedule. He played DJ (the guy with the garter on his head no less) and he’s quite the comedian.

  4. We had a small, backyard wedding and due to my husband’s mostly elderly relatives, the only music was classic and the Wedding March. These are all awesome songs I would have loved to have played at my imaginary reception!

  5. I believe I would have enjoyed your wedding reception! Great picks here. Especially love Pour Some Sugar on Me.

But really? No one saved you any cake 😦 At least it got eaten I suppose…. I remember ours being mostly ignored in the corner.

    • Oh no, there was cake. it wasn’t particularly good. There wasn’t any of my diabetic safe foods, and the guests weren’t supposed to eat without us. It’s really the biggest complaint that I have about the wedding.
