TMT: It’s Beginning to Look A Lot like Christmas

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the whole giving premise and, admittedly, have a hard time stopping when it comes to gift giving. I’m actually pretty excited to create this week’s Twisted Mix Tape for you because its ALL ABOUT Christmas!

Most of my songs are common, so the premise was in sharing the covers I like best. I even made a few new discoveries when I was happily blaring Christmas music from my computer speakers.

I’m going to start off slow…

I just love Rascal Flatts. They made this song a favorite for me:

Speaking of dreaming, my #1 Christmas song is Silent Night. My favorite version was the singer of the Pampers Peace on Earth commercial until I found this one…

My newest discovery came by way of FB, when this video went viral and I became a new fan. If you haven’t listened to Pentatonix, you should.

What’s Christmas without some fun around the Christmas tree, classic style?

Talking about the Christmas tree and decking the halls, what about the roaring fire? My mom used to play this record when I was a kid. It was a nice trip down memory lane, and I gotta say, I can’t accept anyone’s version but Andy Williams (nope, not even the great Bing Crosby)…

I’m an avid Martina McBride fan, and as this is another treasured song, made even more so by the beauty of her voice, my favorite cover of O holy Night goes to her, especially acapella (hmm, looks like a trend.)

Oh I could go on and on, but instead I’ll just leave you with this…

And that’s another Twisted Mixtape Tuesday!

  1. I’d be happy to come into your home and listen to Christmas music with you while we sipped hot chocolate or peppermint martinis?
I also like that you enjoy Country Music as much as I do, that you don’t bash or call it cliche…but you really listen to it and share the meanings.

I love all the spiritual, I love the contemporary, I love the MUSIC and harmonies of this most magical and holy time of the year. I truly wish every day could be like Christmas.

    Loved your mix.
(and I love the blog, it’s SOOO FESTIVE…and i can’t wait to get my 2 copies of your book in the mail. I am sitting (impatiently) by the mailbox. πŸ™‚

  2. I love that you included some popular versions of songs because, first of all, they are awesome! And secondly I am pretty well insulated from hearing any of it based on my Pandora choices and I don’t listen to the radio or watch tv. I know, I’m a weirdo, so I rely on all my favorite mixers to introduce me. I am loving it!
Also I did know Pentatonix from The Sing Off, I watch some TV on my computer πŸ™‚ brilliant!
You know someone is amazing when they can sing O Holy Night A cappella. Dude.

  3. Like you, gift giving is something I really enjoy. You have a great list here! MercyMe “I Can Only Imagine” is one of my favorite songs and I really liked hearing their version of “Silent Night”. And with Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride and Lady Antebellum, you really can’t go wrong. Thanks for sharing.
