As the dirt hit the coffin, Janice flicked away the tear that stubbornly sneaked down her face. Her fingers gripped and released the prescription bottle in her pocket.

“See you soon, lover,” she whispered.

  1. This fear, too, I recognise. Hope it never happens to me, but if it does not, then it happens to him – and would I wish that? No. I do not believe that I could have expressed this with eloquence in 33 words. Well done.

    • It is but I can’t help but love those stories about old couples dying within days of each other. I just have to put my own spin on things, LOL.
