Class is well on it’s way into the Fall semester and the students are still rolling in. I give tribute to the fantastic prompts given each week to stimulate the muse. Y’all read some GOOD BOOKS! Keep it up!
Now on to our last assignment. Last week, newcomer Ray chose the first line from the 3rd chapter of The Wheel of Darkness by Douglass Preston and Lincoln Child. That line was “The black shroud of night had just began to lift when he made his way through the ironbound doors of the monastery’s inner gate.” Your story couldn’t begin or end with the sentence and it had to be a multiple of three. Five authors rose to the challenge.
Kirsten took a little liberty with the prompt and used it as a writing assignment for her newly hired teacher in the ongoing The Path You Choose (a collaboration with Carrie of Muse Unleashed) romance. I loved her creative use of the prompt!
Tara joined in again with a heart-achingly beautiful tale of love with To Die For.
Carrie used the prompt in a refreshing way by making it what’s happening on the 3rd channel her character turns to in her side of The Path You Choose saga. It will make you want to Wet Your Whistle.
Steph rejoins the class with flair in with a story of a clever orphaned boy named Oliver in Not A Soul. This story takes her to the head of the class and a huge WELCOME BACK! We’ve missed your words around here!!
However it was the haunting tale of a tortured soul written by Wisper that took the prize this week. I asked her to choose the last line from any book she wanted. Since it was the inspiration for her blog, she chose:
Your assignment for this week, should you choose to accept it, is to use this line as the FIRST and LAST line of your story. You have until Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 9:00 pm EST to link it up.
The link-up is now live.
